What You'll Do

Avalara is looking for an Lead Business Systems Analyst to innovate, design, and scale our Workday Performance and Compensation related processes and systems serving both internal and external business partners. As a Lead, you will not have managerial responsibilities but will support your peers and complete hands-on technical work. You will need to use your Workday expertise, data modeling, and business analyst background. You will report directly to the Director of People Technology and will be based in our Durham, NC Office on a hybrid arrangement #LI-Hybrid. There is no weekly in office requirement but there will be occasional mandatory in office meetings. You need to live within a commutable distance to the office.

Additionally, you will:
  • Build and maintain Core Compensation & Advanced Compensation and their related business processes, configurations (i.e. Compensation rules and eligibility, support and maintain Merit Cycle processes, Reporting), and important administrative features of Workday.
  • Perform roll-out of Workday Releases and functionality/enhancements.
  • Partner with the Compensation SME to provide support on their upcoming Compensation programs.
  • Gather and document requirements of new initiatives or changes to existing processes/procedures affecting Compensation
  • Develop and deploy projects affecting Compensation modules while considering downstream implications for recruiting and payroll systems.
  • Manage and support important technical initiatives to deploy additional Workday functionality on the application roadmap
  • Evaluate new technological solutions and make recommendations to enhance Workforce user experience
  • Develop appropriate documentation for architectural, design, technical, implementation and test activities.

What You'll Need to be Successful

  • You have 10+ years of experience with Workday.
  • You have of 10+ years of relevant professional experience in supporting/implementing.
  • You have experience with Workday Advanced Compensation applications and supported at least TWO end-to-end implementations of Workday Advanced Compensation AND/OR Workday Compensation PRO Certified.
  • You understand of the impacts to Compensation processes and data feeds to other internal and external applications related to the relevant processes.
  • You have hands-on configuration experience of Workday Core HR, Security, Compensation/Advanced Compensation modules.
  • You are knowledgeable of Workday Security, Reporting, Payroll, and Benefits modules.
  • Experience with Workday technologies - Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB) Report Writer, Business Process Framework, Configurable Security, Calculated Fields.
  • You can deploy and maintain Workday custom reports and dashboards.
  • You are comfortable providing end-user support and functional trainings.
