Summary

MGR Risk Management

Position Highlights:

The Manager, Risk Management supports Moffitt Cancer Center's core elements of the institutional strategic plan by assisting with management of the risk management program in support of the mission, vision, and strategic goals of the organization.

This position collaborates with the Corporate Compliance Department, the Quality and Safety

Department, Infection Prevention the Human Resources Department, the Medical Staff Services Offices, the Patient Relations Department and Clinical and Medical Staff Leadership and Ancillary departments.

This position is responsible for the data integrity, analysis and development of an integrated system-wide data reporting structure used to provide feedback to Hospital Board of Directors and Clinical and Ancillary departments. Other related duties as assigned by appropriate leadership.

Select Responsibilities:


  • Provides Leadership to Risk Management Staff to include but not limited to coaching feedback, mentorship, professional development and manage the distribution of the workload and resources for the department.

  • Provide a multi-faceted education and training program that focuses on elements of the Risk Management Program and seeks to ensure that all workforce members are knowledgeable of, and comply with, pertinent Federal and State standards at a level appropriate to their position in the organization.

  • Link risk initiatives into critical business drivers, perform risk identification, measurement and analysis applying statistical concepts, create valid risk forecasts, perform risk mapping, and risk profiling.

  • Responsible for management, maintenance, future development of software and upgrades. In addition, the Manager of Risk Management will be responsible for maintaining and archiving historical data bases.

  • Manage analytics which provide meaningful and accurate information which will support the Clinical Risk Management Program, drive improvements to promote positive changes in patient, employee and environmental safety, resulting in improved outcomes, preservation of the Center's assets and minimizing liability exposure.

  • Produce and submit specific documents and reports to Patient Safety Organization (PSO) and other regulatory agencies.

  • Track the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) action plans related to improvements of identified opportunities, to include establishing and monitoring of action plan audits. This position will also work with the Risk Management and Quality and Safety teams to ensure success of actionable items and promote success and a culture of patient safety and high reliability.

  • Conduct comprehensive risk audit and monitoring program. Coordinate risk preventions and quality and safety activities of other departments to remain abreast of such activities and identify trends.



Credentials and Qualifications:


  • Master's Degree required within Healthcare Risk Management, Quality and Safety or related field of study.

  • Minimum of seven (7) years' experience in Healthcare with a Risk Management focus and data management/analysis experience. This includes five (5) years of Risk Management Operations experience that includes in-depth knowledge of the functions and applications of report writing, programming, data analysis, data base development, software upgrades, management, and support.

  • Demonstrated experience with Patient Safety Organization (PSO) reporting.

  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) must obtain within one year of hire OR will accept Juris Doctorate in lieu of certification.

  • Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) or must obtain within one year of hire.

  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification within one year of hire.

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification within two years of hire.



Preferred:


  • One (1) year leadership experience is preferred.

  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt within one year of hire.

  • Lean six sigma Green Belt within two years of hire.
