Job Duties

Piedmont Geriatric Hospital (PGH) is a 123- bed psychiatric hospital for individuals aged 65 and older. Patients at PGH present a variety of psychiatric conditions, including dementia, serious depression, and psychosis, among many others.

PGH is actively recruiting for a Nurse Practitioner. This position provides medical care as an ancillary of an interdisciplinary treatment team to a group of patients. Specifically this position monitors and manages chronic medical conditions of elderly patients.

This position works under the supervision of the Medical Physician and works closely with the Psychiatrists and other Clinical professionals to support the recovery of psychiatric patients referred to the hospital for treatment. The Nurse Practitioner makes rounds and follows up on patient problems and provides consultations on patients.

The selected applicant will possess good diagnostic and medical treatment skills; ability to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary treatment team; working knowledge of Federal and Commonwealth of Virginia laws related to the civilly committed and mental health.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college

Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner with the Virginia Department of Health Professions

Current DEA licensure

Experience and ability to demonstrate satisfactory training, skill, expertise, and knowledge in the treatment of medical co morbidities and mental illness found in psychiatric patients. Current BLS certification.
