General Statement of Duties
This is a 260-days (12-months), 8 hours per day position for the Henrico Virtual Academy (HVA). Starting annual salary is $47,788.15 or based on promotion policy for internal candidates. (Note: Salary for the 2024/2025 school year will be prorated based on employment start date.)
Work in this classification generally includes activities such as skilled typing, screening calls and visitors, scheduling appointments, organization and daily maintenance of a comprehensive filing system, and operation of office equipment. The incumbent must demonstrate initiative in all work and be able to make independent judgments in accordance with established practices and guidelines. May deal with sensitive or confidential materials and is responsible to the administrator to whom assigned
Essential Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
∙ Accurate, skillful typing
∙ Knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and current rules of composition
∙ Mathematical skills through the use of a calculator
∙ Ability to proficiently read, spell, and proofread sometimes complex material
∙ Ability to file through alphabetical, numerical, and chronological systems
∙ Ability to maintain records, organize, and effectively use the telephone
∙ Ability to understand and efficiently follow and carry out directions
∙ Ability to interpret written material and effectively communicate verbally
∙ Knowledge necessary to compose and prepare effective correspondence
∙ Ability to write legibly
∙ Ability to schedule and coordinate meetings and conferences
∙ Ability to accurately verify data
∙ Ability to learn the policies, procedures, and services provided by the administrator to whom assigned
∙ Ability to exercise mature judgment and to make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures
∙ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public
∙ Ability and desire to convey a positive and sincere image to patrons and the community at large
∙ Register students
∙ Commitment to maintaining accuracy, tact, and good judgment
GENERAL DESCRIPTION (may include the following):
Minimum Qualifications
A high school graduate or equivalent (business school or some college preferred). Leadership qualities and communication skills are necessary. Ability to use computers in a broad range of applications such as but not limited to the following: Word Processing; Spreadsheet Data Entry and Spreadsheet Design; Database Maintenance; and Internet Search Engines. Should be able to deal effectively with the public.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION (may include the following):
- Primary Support for Secondary Operations
- Secondary Support Contact for Elementary Operations
- Support the principal and administrative team.
- Answer phones, doors, and screen calls.
- Greets and screens visitors while ensuring safety.
- Schedules virtual interviews.
- Maintains employee files.
- Liaison for Central Office requests.
- Completes discipline letters for administrators as needed (Secondary)
- Provide oversight for all financial transactions 6-12.
- Receives letters and financial related phone calls .
- Performs a wide variety of clerical and account related tasks.
- Calculates checks to cover payroll 6-12.
- Sorts incoming mail.
- Assists with the school budget.
- Address attendance according to the virtual attendance guidelines 6-12.
- Complete all attendance reporting documents 6-12.
- Update attendance records 6-12.
- Communicate and distribute data for attendance plan 6-12.
- Maintains the E/R/W Log
- Validates all addresses.
- Assist parents/visitors when necessary (enrollments, withdrawals, McKinney-Vento, Free/reduced lunch applications)
- Maintain student immunization information 6-12.
- Maintains and oversees all student records 6-12.
- Cohort Tracking.
- Enter Residency Compliance information
- Oversees and reports on any residency issues with current and enrolling students.
- Prints and forwards graduate transcript requests.
- Process all court documents, Foster Care information, next school indicator/grade.
