The Department of Medical Education https://www.uthsc.edu/medicine/dome/index.php at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), College of Medicine invites applications to fill an open rank educator position. This is a full-time, non-tenure track salaried faculty position with a comprehensive benefits package and an initial 3-year appointment that is renewable subject to satisfactory performance.
Pharmacology Educator
Primary responsibilities will include teaching didactic, active-learning and small group/team based exercises in the discipline of pharmacology as it relates to multiple diseases. Students are first- and second-year medical students, first-year Physician Assistant (PA) students, and students in other health profession colleges at UTHSC. For the MD program it is expected that material taught in the first and second years will be reinforced and integrated, with more limited teaching responsibilities throughout all 4 years of the MD degree program.
Applicants should submit a letter with description of teaching philosophy and experience, curriculum vitae, and names of three references in a single Word or PDF document. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
Basic Qualifications
Candidates must have a Ph.D., M.D., D.O. or equivalent degree with a background in pharmacology or related field of study and be eligible for a faculty appointment at the level of an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor.
Departmental Preferences
Teaching experience in clinically oriented pharmacology is preferred but not required. The candidate should be an enthusiastic educator with demonstrated ability to work productively, collegially, and effectively within a faculty-team environment. This position includes opportunities to conduct scholarly activities related to educational programs.
