Responsibilities

Full-time role responsible for performing independent laboratory research, to include designing and performing biological and/or biochemical assays on the bench; operating laboratory instruments; and taking detailed notes of experimental procedures and phenomena, analyzing experimental data, and writing research reports. Analyzes existing methodologies, and develops new protocols. Evaluates and prepares statistical analysis of data accumulated in ongoing research. Collects, synthesizes, studies, reports, and produces results based on data derived from measurements or observations.

Attend departmental seminars and conduct scientific literature review to stay current with new technologies, methods, and research findings.

Assist the PI to train new personnel and support undergraduate and graduate students in their experiments. Collaborate on research projects with other members of the lab.

Qualifications

Master of Science degree in molecular biology or biochemistry and one year of prior research experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology or Biochemistry and three years of prior research experience; or a Master of Science in Biology or Biochemistry and one year of prior research experience. (Higher education may substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)
  • Candidates should know how to operate biochemistry and biology instruments, analyze experimental data, and write experimental reports.
  • Experience performing wet lab research.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint or comparable software.
