Job Description Summary
The Human Donor Milk Bank Lab Manager is responsible for the overall daily operations in the lab, to include all aspects of human donor milk processing (Analyzing, pouring, pasteurizing) while ensuring the Mother's Milk Bank of South Carolina is adhering to all Human Milk Bank Association of North America (HMBANA) guidelines. This role is critical to ensure the safety and quality of milk processing.

Job Description
  • Responsible for the pouring and pasteurizing of donor human milk while following adopted nationally approved procedures and ensuring high level of milk quality and safety
  • Coordinates lab staff through the pasteurization and dispensation of the product
  • Primarily responsible for all administrative and leadership duties involving the daily operations of the laboratory
  • Administrative duties
  • Works with the program manager to maintain HMBANA accreditation through yearly audit and assessment
  • Provide program updates to funding agencies as required
  • Submit monthly quality assurance report to the program manager
  • Select milk for weekly pasteurization
  • Oversee lab technicians
  • Ensure all supplies are available in a timely manner to maintain efficient functioning in the lab
  • Manage orders from hospitals and outpatients
  • Coordinate delivery of donor milk to recipients
  • Review quality measures, logs, and KPIs monthly to program manager
  • Track and report bacteria rates
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures of the Milk Bank
