Job Description Summary
The Stroke Program Coordinator-Orangeburg reports to the Stroke Program Manager and works collaboratively Orangeburg leadership. Under limited supervision, the Stroke Coordinator is responsible for regulatory Joint Commission Primary Stroke Certification (PSC), AHA/ASA Get with the Guidelines-Stroke/Target Stroke III and providing leadership of a defined group of clinical and support disciplines related to stroke care from pre-hospital through discharge follow up.

Job Description

This role consists of collecting relevant quality data, analyzing and assessing data, working with relevant stakeholders on disseminating data and information, benchmarking performance, and leading multidisciplinary teams to improve performance based on goals. This position collects and presents performance data to relevant oversight and governance groups.The position directs service delivery, ensuring seamless integration with service line initiatives, performance improvement measures, outcome evaluation, and goals/objectives. This role is also responsible for the alignment of clinical pathway guidelines, processes, procedures, and policies to increase operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Additional Job Description

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing with 3-5 years of progressive work experience.
  • Current South Carolina licensure or compact state required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA-recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Healthcare Providers.
  • Stroke Certified Registered Nurse (SCRN), ENLS and/or Acute Stroke Life Support (ASLS) Certification preferred.
  • Management or supervisory experience preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of Cerebrovascular Programs, National Registries, and stroke-related policies preferred.
  • Knowledge of management and leadership principles, budgeting methods, and services related to area of responsibility preferred.
  • At least 3 years of cerebrovascular-related experience preferred.
