About the Position:

The Virginia State Police is seeking to hire a Program Support Technician Senior in our Criminal Justice Information Services Division at State Police Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The successful candidate will maintain compliance with the Code of Virginia §63.2-901.1 VCIN Purpose Code X queries for the emergency placement of a child; ensure Virginia agencies adhere to the Code of Virginia, the VCIN Manual and federal regulations; retrieve Purpose Code X inquiries from VCIN Archival Client or requests from the FBI; research inquiries to determine the origin and establish a point of contact; contact each point of contact per inquiry to determine if the reason for query is in accordance with §63.2-901.1 of the Code of Virginia; authorize dissemination of criminal history records ensuring appropriate State and federal laws are met; work closely with VCIN analysts and VCIN representatives to ensure compliance of requesting agency; verify fingerprint submissions on cases where a child has been placed; collect, assemble, and maintain data on daily purpose Code X inquiries; and work on special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

•Considerable knowledge of office practices and procedures; and of Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) / National Crime Information Center (NCIC) required.
•Knowledge of State and federal criminal history databases (VCIN / NCIC); of research and analysis methods; of office practices and procedures; and some knowledge of data analysis.
•Skill in the operation of computers and using Microsoft Office applications and databases to access and retrieve data and records, and in organization and time management.
•Demonstrated ability to research and compare and contrast data; to analyze and interpret State and federal policies and procedures; to apply critical thinking and sound judgement to interpret laws, regulations, and other source documents to formulate conclusions and provide recommendations; to provide attention to detail and organization; and to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English with staff, external agencies and officials.
•High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
•Must be VCIN certified which requires either U.S. citizenship or a lawful permanent resident of the United States and eligible for naturalization.

•Experience working in a public safety environment and with sensitive and confidential information preferred.
