About the Position:
The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Program Support Technician Senior in our Communications Division at State Police Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The successful candidate will perform a variety of administrative duties and provide technical and operational support duties as a specialist for the Fleet Services Program by coordinating administrative and record management duties. The work includes tracking vehicle warranty and safety recalls, documenting vehicle classification and histories from purchase to end of service and preparing fleet expense reports. In addition, backup support may be required to the Equipment Repair Technicians during high priority projects to perform basic preventive maintenance services and minor repairs for passenger vehicles, trucks, and other equipment, removing electronic and after-market police equipment in Virginia State Police vehicles and assisting with shuffling, delivering, washing, and towing vehicles.

Minimum Qualifications

•Working knowledge of general office procedures and practices; of Agency and State policies and procedures as related to the operation of the Fleet Services Program; and of data collection and research techniques.
•Some knowledge of police, communications and automotive electrical and electronic systems and equipment.
•Skill in operating computers and using Microsoft Office applications for typing, entering data, producing documents, and accessing and maintaining databases. •Demonstrated ability to research and collect data, perform data verification and analysis; to use a multi-line telephone system; to process monthly fleet expense reports; to communicate information orally and in writing in English; to apply and explain policies, procedures, and State/federal laws and regulations; to notarize documents and prioritize workload to meet established deadlines; to work independently and as a member of a team; to deal tactfully and courteously with the general public and respond to inquiries from internal and external customers; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel, customers, representatives of state agencies, and vehicle dealerships.
•Experience using record retention and asset management systems required.
•Valid driver's license required.
•Notary Public is required within six months from hire.
•High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Additional Considerations

•Experience using eVA or procurement procedures preferred.
•Training and experience in business administration or related field preferred.
•Experience in the Electrical/Electronic/Automotive vocation preferred.
