Job Description

Purpose:

Under supervision of the Director of Mental Health Services and Director of Psychology, the Psychologist III supervises psychologists and other SUD clinicians and manages programs so as to provide clinical and psychological services to mentally ill, chemically dependent patients.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
The Psychologist Level III is charged with and responsible for:
• Supervises professionals working with mentally ill, chemically dependent patients (MICA).
• Organizes individual and group psychotherapy programs to be used by SUD patients.
• Supervises assessment procedures.
• Organizes crisis intervention programs for patients.
• Participates in conferences, organizes training programs and otherwise educates SUD staff.
• Ensures that adequate recordkeeping and charting is done in the MICA program.
• Carries out outcome research and internal auditing procedures as needed.
• Clinical work with adult MICA and other SUD patients.
• Oversees/coordinates weekly high-risk team meetings and case conferences.
• Manages a caseload of High-Risk Patients.

Minimum Qualifications

SPECIAL NOTE # = Additional Requirements for Assignment Level III
For assignment to Assignment Level III, individuals must have the following in addition to meeting the minimum Qualification Requirements for Assignment Level I above:
A. The Doctoral Degree in Psychology as described under Special Note A. for Assignment Level II, and
B. A valid license as a Psychologist issued by the New York State Department of Education; and
C. Four years of satisfactory full-time experience in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, School Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Clinical Health Psychology, or Neuro-Psychology, of which at least one year must have been under the direct supervision of a qualified Psychologist or Psychiatrist, and at least three years must have been in a supervisory capacity as a licensed Psychologist.
D. License Requirements for Assignment Level III
For assignment to Assignment Level III, a valid license as a Psychologist issued by the New York State Department of Education. This license must be maintained for the duration of the assignment.
