Job Summary

The CASCADE Lab in the Department of Epidemiology at the U-M School of Public Health is seeking a Project Manager. We currently have multiple field studies, including the Michigan and Cancer Research on the Environment Study (MI-CARES) and Surviving Ovarian Cancer: Innovation, Advancement and Living Well (SOC:IAL). The person in the role will work with the team to meet project goals.

Responsibilities*
  • Participates in recruitment, data collection, biospecimen ascertainment, and retention efforts.
  • Works with community stakeholders, the community advisory board, and the scientific advisory board to ensure all groups are engaged.
  • Prepares Institutional Review Board applications, amendments, and other reporting documentation and prepares and completes activities for data/material transfer agreements.
  • Foster and maintain partnerships across Michigan with community groups, health care institutions, non-profit organizations, and others. Develop community outreach and engagement activities for MI-CARES and other studies in order to build and strengthen community ties.
  • Plan and execute community-wide partnered activities including health education, awareness raising, and resource-sharing. Collaborate with state and local agencies and community groups to carry out community outreach and engagement activities.
  • Manage the MI-CARES, SOC:IAL, and other social media presence. Develop and post MI-CARES, SOC:IAL, and other website content, including quarterly newsletters, infographics, and state and national news and events related to our studies.
  • Participate in data review and data management and analysis, including geocoding and/or acquisition of community level data (e.g. through NaNDA).
  • Other activities as needed.

Required Qualifications*
  • A master's degree in epidemiology, public health, or a related discipline and four to five years experience in research or public health is required. Requirements for the Associate level include a bachelor's degree with 1-3 years of experience.
  • Independent problem solver and willing and able to work as part of a high functioning team.
  • Experience with project implementation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented, accurate and deadline driven; excellent organizational skills; ability to work independently and pro-actively and handle multiple simultaneous projects with competing deadlines.
  • Comfortable with speaking and presenting health/environment-related materials to individuals and small and large groups.
  • Experience working with diverse communities.
  • Ability to move equipment and materials weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Flexible hours with ability to work occasional weekends and evenings, as well as overnight travel throughout Michigan.

Desired Qualifications*
  • Spanish or Arabic speaking proficiency.
  • Demonstrated experience working with African American and other underrepresented minority populations in the state of Michigan.
  • Experience working with Qualtrics

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes .

Underfill Statement

The position may be underfilled at the Associate level based on the qualifications of the selected candidate. The salary range for the Associate level is $44,200 - 54,600, and the salary range for the Intermediate level is $54,149 - 66,890.

Additional Information

The position is term-limited for one year, with possibility of extension depending on performance and funding.
