Job Summary

We are seeking a Research Assistant to assist with a research project. We need an experienced assistant to provide support and supervision. Applicants should include a cover letter outlining specific skills and experiences related to the duties and responsibilities of the position.

This is a time limited position working primarily at McFarlan Court Street Village in Flint through November 2024. Hours are variable and range from 0-40 hours per week through November 2024. Some evenings and weekends may be required for this position.

Responsibilities*

Participate in a study designed to characterize wayfinding and other responses in humans. Participate in instrument development in REDCap. Provide orientation to data collectors in the use of REDCap. Assist in coordination of participants? visits and data collection. Participate as needed in recruitment, screening, and consent of participants for study. Perform study assessment. Manage and maintain study data. Assist with IRB submission and preparation of study reports. Participate in troubleshooting. May be asked to do any of the following as needed:
  • Conduct review of literature
  • Assist with project design
  • Assist with/develop IRB proposal or amendments
  • Orientation of staff to REDCap
  • Make any necessary changes to REDCap environment
  • Recruitment, screening, and scheduling appointments
  • Troubleshoot data collection issues in REDCap
  • Data collection
  • Data entry and analysis
  • Development of files for data collection
  • Assist with abstract submission
  • Assist with grant application
  • Assist with manuscript preparation
  • Assist with poster preparation
  • Assist with other research related activities

Required Qualifications*
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and work experience
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Demonstrated excellence in customer service
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to set priorities, handle multiple assignments
  • Demonstrates initiative and resourcefulness
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn new computer programs
  • Exceptional organization and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to follow research protocol.

Desired Qualifications*
  • Experience with University of Michigan IRB process
  • Experience with supervision of research project
  • Proposal preparation and experience with grant submission
  • Familiar with SPSS for data management

Modes of Work

Onsite
The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence. Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan
