Summary

Position Highlights:


  • Opportunity to join a NCI designated comprehensive cancer center in production of novel cellular therapy treatments for cancer patients.




  • Participation in cutting edge-immunotherapy clinical trials designed to activate immune system cells for the treatment of cancer.

  • Develop and perform assays on cellular products for characterization, safety and function.

  • Involvement in the rapidly growing multiple clinical trials within the cell therapy area.



The Ideal Candidate


  • Experience in cellular therapy or a related field

  • Working knowledge of adoptive cell therapy and immunotherapy.

  • Working knowledge and some level of proficiency of varying quality control assays including PCR (and nucleic acid extractions, -q-, RT, -competitive, routine, multi-plex), ELISA/ELLA, multi-color flow cytometry and cell counting techniques.

  • Understanding of good documentation, laboratory and manufacturing practices and requirements.

  • The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, engaged, and will work closely with members of the Cell Therapy Team.

  • Exhibit interest and excitement in participating in the production of cellular products.

  • Able to work on several projects within similar timelines with focus and positivity.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours.



Responsibilities:


  • Working independently, with minimal supervision to perform a wide range of highly technical and complex research laboratory tests and procedures, including but not limited to: qualitative and quantitative assays on cell therapy products including PCR, ELISA/ELLA, flow cytometry and cell counting techniques.

  • Can devise highly specialized research procedures and new techniques by applying knowledge of advanced research techniques and equipment and can analyze and interpret the results of the studies and aid in preparation of written materials (SOPs and data presentation).

  • Organizational and inventory responsibilities.

  • Recommend new equipment, technique, and supplies needed for specialized procedures by reviewing literature for related research developments and techniques.

  • Provides input into the development of departmental/client-based goals and objectives that comply with the facility's standard operating procedures and policies which incorporate FDA, FACT and CAP regulatory standards applicable to cellular therapy product production and analysis.

  • Trains QC staff in daily tasks, specialized procedures, and theoretical concepts.


  • Identify problems that may adversely affect product or testing performance and follow the Cell Therapy Facility standard operating procedures and policies whenever product processing or analytic testing are not within the defined acceptable criteria and/or levels of performance.


  • Serve in a leadership role in a department-based committee/project.


  • Maintain aseptic technique and work within a clean room environment (cGMP).

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Work schedule and/or shift adaptability is required. Periodic weekend work is also required based on production demands.



Credentials and Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree a Biological Science, Master's preferred.

  • At least 5 years of Cell Therapy Experience or Biological Science related work and/or post graduate coursework.

  • Requires at least 3 years in a cross-functional facility and at least 2 years of that in research-based technology.

  • Work experience in multi-user core facility preferred.

  • Demonstrated competency in diverse biological processes following good documentation practices.




  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to achieve expected outcomes
