The Senior Business Systems Analyst will be responsible for creating and refining business and systems requirements to address business opportunities and formulate documentation to support the development and implementation of the technical solution as part of the WellMed Central Quality Reporting & Analytics team. This position plays a major role in the development and implementation of core business reporting solutions. In addition, the Senior Business Systems Analyst serves as the liaison between business users and technology programmers to understand user needs and develop required reporting and data analytics and may serve as a project coordinator to support with communication of product delivery work efforts.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Solutions and documents BI visualization, ETL and integration strategies at the modeling, design and implementation stages to address business or industry requirements
  • Analyzes business needs, documents requirements and translates needs into functional, nonfunctional and/or technical specifications
  • Delivers requirements, performs analysis, and evaluates downstream business, systems, process, and/or organizational impacts
  • Plans and assists with oversight of testing processes and activities including defect identification and resolution
  • Analyzes charts and/or diagrams of the problem to be programmed and defines solution requirements in terms of existing capabilities
  • Develops or assists in the development of work plans, time schedules, and project task items and schedules and assists with estimating resource needs for analysts, developers, end users, and prepares routine project status reports
  • Assists in the development of project estimates to establish project timelines including the development of alternative considerations. This will result in recommendations for the development of new solutions or to change existing solutions
  • Advises the appropriate people on the implications of existing technical solutions that can be applied to a problem. Identifies risks and issues and seeks approval on complex matters
  • Checks, validates and verifies assigned work performed by technical staff in order to achieve desired end-results for customer
  • Identifies applicable security and data standards when reviewing requirements and recommends controls to ensure compliance with corporate policies and standards
  • Supports HEDIS, Part D, and CAHPS and HOS external provider reporting deliverables
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems or related field (4 additional years of comparable work experience beyond the required years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor's degree)
  • 5+ years of experience in writing and developing requirements and performing system analysis; includes drafting of both Business & Functional Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience of BI reporting implementation experience, preferably with Tableau
  • Solid knowledge of data security and compliance standards
  • Solid knowledge of creating User Acceptance Testing Documents and Test Cases
  • Solid knowledge with SQL and writing queries; including presenting findings
  • Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Proven ability to analyze and document process and data flows
  • Proven ability to clearly communicate ideas and solutions with both Business and Technical Teams
  • Proven ability to effectively report up daily progress on assigned deliverables in a timely manner
  • Proven ability to effectively work with both internal and external clients

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Alteryx or other ETL software certification
  • Tableau server experience
  • Experience working in agile project management and project control methodologies
  • Knowledge of Health Care Industry and related business functions
  • Knowledge of HEDIS, CAHPS & HOS and Pharmacy data
  • Advance course of study in data management or data governance
  • Advanced course of study in information technology, business or another field

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
