This is a non-telework position located in Pearblossom, California.

Under supervision of the Hydroelectric Plant Operations Superintendent in the Southern Field Division License Coordination Branch (LCB), the incumbent will assist LCB staff with the implementation of environmental (wildlife, water quality, botanical) and recreation related tasks associated with the operation and maintenance of the Southern Field Division (SFD). This position requires that the incumbent work cooperatively with others, maintain good attendance, be organized, and exercise sound judgment. Incumbent will work with LCB and SFD staff, other DWR Divisions, outside agencies, and consultants to complete environmental documentation, obtain necessary permits, and achieve environmental compliance for activities originating in the SFD.

Special Requirements

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Seeking candidates with knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations, such as California Environmental Quality Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Federal Clean Water Act, Porter-Cologne Water Quality Act, CA Fish and Game Code, and Federal and State Endangered Species Acts. Incumbent should also have experience working with applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulatory agencies such as U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Regional Water Quality Control Boards, and CA Department of Fish and Wildlife. Ability to work independently and cooperatively with others; maintain regular, consistent, predictable attendance; exercise good judgment; and follow DWR safety policies.

Computer knowledge and skills a must. Ideal candidate should possess strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to make effective presentations to management and the public. Preparing or Implementing Environmental/Biological work plans and survey protocols as well as knowledge of local species is also ideal.
