Job Duties
The Office of the Executive Secretary of the Supreme Court of Virginia is seeking applicants for the position of Senior Payroll Specialist in the Department of Fiscal Services to be a member of the payroll team responsible for processing payroll for the Virginia judicial system.
This position offers a competitive benefits package, which includes vacation, sick, and personal leave, 13 paid holidays, health insurance, service retirement, group life insurance, deferred compensation, short- and long-term disability, and teleworking one day per week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for processing salary, hourly, and per diem payrolls, including analyzing, calculating, and editing payroll data; data entry of per diem time sheets; reconciliation of fringe benefits, employee deductions, and tax records; employment/wage data reporting; and communication with all levels of court personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate or bachelor's degree with coursework in accounting or a related field is preferred.
Additional Considerations
Competitive applicants will have one or more years of payroll experience, preferably with training and use of Cardinal HCM and working knowledge of the Commonwealth's accounting policies and procedures (CAPP); strong analytical skills with attention to detail; the ability to work independently while being a supportive member of a team; strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work in order to meet deadlines; professional interpersonal and customer service skills; and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
