Job Summary/Basic Function

The Millersville University Athletic Communications office is building a team of students to assist with a number of gameday tasks including but not limited to, keeping statistics, stadium music, running scoreboard, writing stories, and creating graphics. The position will also have office hours available for students interested.

Required Qualifications

• General knowledge of sports needed.
• Experience working in athletics preferred.
• Proficiency in associated press (AP) style writing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the gameday operations aspect of collegiate athletics, including but not limited to setting up equipment, taking down equipment, running scoreboard, playing stadium music (goal songs, warm ups, walk-up songs, other music between breaks in action), and helping with other on-field tasks.
• Assist with the media relations aspect of collegiate athletics, including but not limited to keeping statistics, creating graphics (gameday, postgame, halftime, etc.), updating social media during live events, and writing pre-game and post-game stories.
• Assists the media relations staff in updating records, athlete and coach bios, and men's and women's basketball game notes.
• Assists the media relations staff in updating the University's athletics website regularly. (millersvilleathletics.com)
• Must be available to work nights and weekends.
• Arrive at least one hour prior to events.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

Must be available to work nights and weekends, during academic breaks if possible.

Must be able to lift and carry equipment.
