Job Summary/Basic Function

The Program Assistant (PA) position is a University Housing and Conference Services ( UHCS ) appointment to run throughout the academic year. The PA position exists to build and sustain community and programming with the living-learning communities ( LLC ). The student selected will work approximately 10 hours per week with funds coming directly from UHCS . The Program Assistant will report directly to the Living-Learning Community Faculty and work in collaboration with UHCS staff, including RADs and RAs. The LLC Faculty will be in contact with the with LLCS staff to assist with coordination of activities/programming. UHCS will provide a room in the assigned LLC for the Program Assistant at a reduced rate (the double suite rate). After fulfilling the duties of the PA each semester, the PA will receive a $250 stipend at the end of the fall and spring semesters.

Required Qualifications
  • Enrolled as a full-time student at Millersville University.


  • Must reside in the assigned living-learning community.


  • Required to have lived in campus housing for at least 2 semesters.


  • Must have a 2.5 GPA at time of application and maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA throughout the time of employment.


  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills.


  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.


  • Be available to move in early for the fall 24 semester.


  • Required to complete background clearances prior to starting.


Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience participating and living in a living-learning community or affinity housing community preferred but not required.

Job Duties

Report directly to the LLC faculty, who will act as the primary Supervisor. With the assistance of the Faculty, PM builds student interest and participation in LLC activities and support LLC Students.

Intentionally build community and facilitate LLC programming for the specific LLC and throughout the entire LLC student body. Propose programming and events to the Faculty and work to effectively integrate and implement programs. Assist with planning, advertisement, preparation, set up and clean up, and attend events related to LLC . Program Assistants are expected to collaborate and work closely with each other on building community and executing events (both in person and virtually), with the assistance of LLC Faculty. It is expected that the PA will complete 3-4 programs each semester.

Help document programming and events (i.e., photos) to be used on social media, LLC website, Admissions/recruiting sessions, and printed material. Play a primary role in guiding and building LLC social media.

Assist with recruitment of prospective freshmen (e.g., assist with Admissions Open Houses, Admitted Student Expo, LLC Information Session, and other special events held for the recruitment of prospective LLC students).

Be a continuing presence (in person and/or virtually) and resource. Provide social and academic transitional support. Hold weekly "office" hours and advertise them to the LLC students.

Provide regular feedback to the LLC Faculty. Provide weekly updates.

Seek supervision when appropriate from LLC Faculty.

Attend relevant trainings (to be determined).

Prepare for the Academic Year by reaching out to freshmen with relevant information about LLC during the summer and help plan events to be held during EPPIIC weekend. Some summer hours (not on-campus, except for late August) will be required for training purposes.
