NORTH STAR HUMAN SERVICE ZONE

Summary of Work

The function of this position (53-38-6297) is to prepare documents for processing, application registration and screening for expedite. Managing workflows and utilizing the Eligibility Determination systems. Greet the public and direct clients and community partners to the correct staff person within the agency.

1. Prepare documents for processing
a. Accept verifications.
b. Scan verifications and utilize naming conventions.
c. Manage workflow within assigned cue.
d. Utilize eligibility determination systems.
e. Registering applications.
f. Screening for SNAP expedited eligibility and LIHEAP emergency.

2. Provide customer service in a professional and timely manner
a. Identify, prepare, and respond to client reactions and behaviors both positive and negative.
b. Respond to questions regarding services provided by the agency.
c. Explain policy and procedure.
d. Out of State Medical Travel.

3. Agency Front Desk and Other Duties
a. Answer the phone and direct calls to appropriate staff; distribute mail to designated staff/program.
b. Greet the public and assist them as needed.
c. Participate in the development of office procedures.
d. Make travel arrangements for staff and foster care youth.
e. Assemble economic assistance packets for distribution to the public.
f. other duties as assigned.

4. Workload and time management
a. Develop and prioritize work practices to meet deadlines for all programs.
b. Assess and document multi steps in complex time frames.

5. Agency Expectations:
a. Attend and complete trainings, staff meetings, and any other meetings assigned.
b. Keep abreast of complex policy and system changes as they occur.
c. Utilize and be familiar with all resources available.
d. Maintain time and attendance records.
e. Compile and report statistical data as requested.
f. other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires one of the following: (1) Completion of the eligibility worker one-year certificate program. (2) Completion of 90 semester hours or 135 quarter hours of a bachelor's degree program. (3) Graduation from high school or GED and three years of work experience involving processing of claims, loans, financial eligibility benefits, credit reviews, abstracts, taxes, or housing assistance, or working in the clerical, accounting, bookkeeping, legal, financial, business, teaching, investments/financial planning, computer/data processing fields. (4) Three years of any combination of education and experience listed above.
