MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, including 2 courses in programming, plus eight (8) years of experience in computer programming. (Bachelor's degree can be substituted by experience using the formula of 2 years' experience = 1 year of college coursework).
  2. Specialized programming analysis and design experience in Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Crystal Reports, and query reporting software is required.
  3. Certification in Advanced PowerSchool SIS Administration and Management and Database Management is required.
  4. Background clearance through FBI and ABI processes.
  5. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.


Duties and responsibilities:

  1. Oversee input, edits, and removal of MPS staff from the ALSDE AIM Ed directory
  2. All work orders related to scheduling, grades, report cards, transcripts, etc. for the magnet schools and Innovation Programs
  3. Internal transfers based on magnet acceptance
  4. Assist assigned schools in completing the report card process at the end of each grading period
  5. Assist with the magnet application, innovation program registration, and selection process
  6. Work with outside vendors to select and refine software products to be used in the magnet application, innovation programs, and selection process
  7. Review magnet applications, attendance, grades, and discipline, and monitor for data quality.
  8. Monitor Magnet email and respond to parent questions and concerns. Escalate to the Director when necessary
  9. Prepare reports as requested by the Chief Academic Officer, Director, and/or designee
  10. Track and report statistics related to Academics & Accountability, HiEd Academic online platform (middle and high schools), magnet application process, and program enrollment.
  11. Run the Magnet Lottery and track all decisions (Offered Seat, Waitlist, Ineligible, Acceptance, and Declines)
  12. Communicate via email with the parent/guardian of all magnet applicants as to the status of their application throughout the application process
  13. Notification of application received, transcripts received, transcripts not received, and eligibility status


  • Assist with the oversight of the record-keeping of graduation cohorts, grades, innovation programs, magnet schools, CCR, early college, Dual Enrollment (DE)/Dual Credit (DC):
    1. Provide data analysis of graduation cohort information, grades, magnet schools, innovation programs, CCR information, early college, and Dual Enrollment (DE)/Dual Credit (DC) as requested
    2. Assist with the grade input for DE, DC, and ACCESS courses (quarterly) Ensuring that the DE/DC and ACCESS grades are entered correctly either on the student's transcript and/or the grade book in a timely manner
    3. Assist the DE/DC Team in identifying students who are eligible to participate through reports that analyze academic data requirements


  • Assist with the oversight of the master schedule/valid course audit (ongoing):
    1. Monitoring and the reconciliation of courses between PowerSchool student information system and the ALSDE Course Catalog to ensure data is following State course offerings Notifying Assessment and Accountability specialists of non-compliance or concerns
    2. Monitor Course listing specifics as they relate to Carnegie units earned, additional weight added, and course terms. Notifying Assessment and Accountability specialists of non-compliance or concerns
    3. Troubleshoot and resolve Master Schedule issues as needed


  • Grade book audits (ongoing):
    1. Prepare reports for curriculum concerning teacher grade books and compliance with the Grading Promotion and Retention Policy
    2. Develop/Provide data analysis of grade trends and failures


  • Magnet GPA monitoring (ongoing):

Develop/Prepare reports to identify students at risk of not making the Magnet GPA at every grading period

  • MTSS flags for the failure of standards:

Prepare Unified Insights or other reports identifying students for MTSS using academic, attendance, and discipline data

  • Assist with the oversight of the grade correction process for appeals addressed through the Academic and Accountability Office.


  • Provide monthly, quarterly, and semester academic reports for education specialists.


  • Assist in providing technical support to end users on the use of applications and digital textbooks.


  • Provide assistance to the curriculum and instruction department in assessing current curriculum-related learning management systems, processes, and workflow as well as implementing efficiencies through best practices, innovation, and technology.


  • Assist teachers at identified schools with gradebook issues.
