The Opportunity
  • DYS Teachers can earn from $60,798 - $103,334 depending on education and experience (includes additional 20% supplement)
  • Small class sizes (6-8 students)
  • Students are an average of 16-18 years old
  • Comprehensive paid training will be provided to the selected candidate
  • Intersession leave - 40 days off per year; 186 student days
  • Additional personal and sick leave
  • No study hall/lunch supervisory responsibilities

Duties for a Teacher include, but are not limited to:
  • Assess educational needs of youth: develop and implement lesson plans to address those needs to include individualized assignments and training;
  • Provide instruction with individual assistance;
  • Counsel students concerning their performance, behavior and/or personal problems;
  • Organize and/or monitor extracurricular activities if assigned.

Qualifications
  • Teacher 1 must have baccalaureate degree or less;
  • Teacher 2 must have a baccalaureate degree & 20 additional quarter hrs. but less than master's degree;
  • Teacher 3 must have master's degree;
  • Teacher 4 must have master's degree & 30 hrs. of post-graduate study;
  • Starting salary will be based on education experience & teaching experience.
Note: Applicant must successfully obtain Teacher Certificate or License prior to employment. Applicant should have a valid ODE for Special Education for middle school/high school (Grades 7 through 12)
