Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics, Section of Academic Pediatrics, in the Biological Sciences Division is searching for a faculty member at any rank to serve as an academic physician. As a full-time faculty member, the appointee will contribute to patient care, medical education, and scholarship. The appointee will work closely with the Medical Director of Primary Care and assume the role of Medical Director of General Pediatrics for the Department. Other duties include teaching and supervision of trainees and medical students, and scholarly activity. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

The appointee will be an accomplished academic pediatrician with a record of scholarship, experience as a medical educator, and have a keen interest in supporting provider development and QI initiatives. The appointee will join a vibrant and distinguished community of faculty colleagues and learners in UChicago Medicine, the Biological Sciences Division, the Pritzker School of Medicine, and the University of Chicago and its affiliates. The Section of Academic Pediatrics is dedicated to managing the unique primary care needs of newborns, children, and adolescents on the South Side of Chicago. The scope of its clinical service covers both ambulatory sites located in Comer Children's Hospital and Hyde Park, service to a FQHC, and a growing number of regional sites. Its clinical programs include pediatric primary care, Child Advocacy and Protective Services, adolescent medicine, and the Comer Mobile Community Unit.

University of Chicago Medicine has been at the forefront of medical care since 1927. Located in historic Hyde Park, the primary medical campus includes the Center for Care and Discovery, Comer Children's Hospital, Bernard A. Mitchell Hospital for adult inpatient care, and the Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine (DCAM) totaling more than 550 beds in service and net patient care revenues over $1.4 billion.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have an MD or equivalent, 2) have or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, and 3) be board certified in Pediatrics.
