The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics, Section of Pediatric Neurology, in collaboration with The Chicagoland Children’s Health Alliance, is searching for a full-time faculty member. Rank will be dependent on qualifications. The appointee will have a research interest in neurogenetics with a specific interest in movement disorders and will be responsible for building a translational research program in neurogenetics. The primary role and responsibility will be to perform translational research on genetic movement disorders. In addition, the appointee will provide care for pediatric patients with neurological disorders, particularly including those with genetic movement disorders, by recommending and interpreting genetic testing based upon neurological and clinical genetic evaluations. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, with a focus on neurogenetic disorders and the clinical applications of genetic testing. Collaboration with other researchers and patient organizations related to neurogenetic disorders is also envisioned. The appointee will have translational research experience related to genetic movement disorders such as functional assessment of genetic variants, human phenotyping/natural history evaluation, and animal model systems; and join a vibrant and distinguished community of faculty colleagues and learners in UChicago Medicine, the Biological Sciences Division, the Pritzker School of Medicine, and the University of Chicago and its affiliates. The Chicagoland Children’s Health Alliance is a collaboration between Advocate Children’s Hospital, Division of Pediatrics at NorthShore University HealthSystem and the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital. Our organizations have joined together to provide personalized care coordination services for children and families through our integrated and comprehensive network of pediatric experts, from primary to highly specialized care, as well as maternal fetal medicine.

The Section of Pediatric Neurology currently has 9 full-time child neurology attendings and aims to expand in the coming years. Existing subspecialty strengths within the Section of Pediatric Neurology include epilepsy, neurocritical care, sleep disorders, autism, and neurocutaneous disorders. Clinical responsibilities will be assigned in the outpatient settings at the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital. Compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) is dependent upon qualifications. The University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital is a busy urban teaching hospital with a diverse patient population and is located on the same campus as the medical school and the University. The University also has a robust Neuroscience Institute, which brings together more than 90 neuroscientists based in academic and clinical departments across the campus into a cohesive program.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or the equivalent, 2) have board certification in child neurology, pediatrics, or clinical genetics, and 3) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois.
