Job Duties

To assist in the development, implementation, and coordination of a law enforcement training curriculum for the purpose of certifying officers for the Law Enforcement Division of the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources. To assist and support all aspects and functions of the training academy and recruitment of officers. To maintain records and data in compliance with mandates from the Department of Criminal Justice Services, Library of Virginia, and Department of Wildlife Resources' policies and general orders.

Minimum Qualifications

Considerable knowledge of and experience related to state purchasing, accounting, and budgeting procedures. Skilled in the use of word processing, job specific software, and other automated office equipment. Knowledge of principles and practices applicable to law enforcement personnel, programs and equipment. Knowledge of law enforcement operations, education, public relations. Ability to compose and prepare a wide variety of correspondence and documents using personal initiative and judgment and from drafts and instructions from others. Demonstrated ability to plan meetings and events with limited guidance from supervisor. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in a variety of venues; to work cooperatively and effectively with others to accomplish Agency objectives.

Additional Considerations

A high school diploma with 2 years of college. Substantial experience in the area of office management, policies, and procedures. Experience working with or for a Law Enforcement Agency. A valid Virginia driver's license. (An equivalent combination of training and experience indicating possession of the preceding knowledge and abilities may substitute for the college education.)
