About the Position:

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a wage Program Support Technician in our Human Resources Division at State Police Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The successful candidate will provide administrative and project support for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Safety and Compliance function; conduct research on a variety of safety and human resources topics and issues; update the OSHA Excel spreadsheet and Access database; assist with scheduling and coordinating materials for meetings and provides meeting assistance as needed for Workplace Safety Meetings; assist with tracking expenditures related to the Division's Spend Plan; and assist with other duties and assignments within Human Resources as requested. This position will also provide support to Bureau of Strategic Governance (BSG) related to the Naloxone Administration Program; provide support to the Safety Coordinator on indoor air quality complaints and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requests; and assist with automated external defibrillator (AED) monthly inspections.

Minimum Qualifications

•Working knowledge of office practices, principles, and procedures; of recordkeeping principles and practices governing automated and manual systems; of proper grammar, spelling and punctuation; and of basic project management and research methods, procedures, and techniques to classify and sort data.
•Skill in operating computers and using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Access, and Excel); and in operating standard office equipment such as copiers.
•Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision, managing own workload and priorities, and completing assignments; to identify problems and opportunities, propose effective solutions, and implement approved solutions; to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing in English; to multi-task and adapt to fast paced or varying work environments; to perform visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts; to use measuring devices and common hand tools, and to assemble, clean, and maintain respirators; and to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
• Progressively responsible administrative experience that includes data collection and document preparation required.
•A valid Virginia's driver's license.
•High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Additional Considerations

•Familiarity with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements preferred.
•Training in emergency preparedness such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), first aid, and automated external defibrillator (AED) use preferred.
•Use of hand tools and inspection of respirators preferred.
