Under administrative direction of the Assistant Deputy Director of Fiscal Operations, the Accounting Administrator III (AA III) serves in a management capacity with leadership and administrative responsibilities in charge of complex accounting functions with the Department of Fish and Wildlife's (CDFW's) Accounting Services Branch (ASB). These functions include all receipts, billing, payments, and reporting for CDFW and the Wildlife Conservation Board (WCB). As Chief Accounting Officer for CDFW, the AA III provides direction to CDFW personnel on departmental and state procedures utilizing Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Headquartered in our new high-rise building located in downtown Sacramento, this position has the opportunity of being eligible for remote centered hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California.
The new Natural Resources Building is right next to Light Rail for an easy commute and features ergonomic furniture, panoramic downtown views, a free employee gym, a cafeteria and bodega, and adjacent childcare.
In order to be eligible for this position, you must either be transfer eligible or take and pass the following exam:

Working Conditions
Work in a fast-paced office environment under time critical deadlines. Ability to use a computer keyboard several hours a day. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods. Time off may not be granted during the year-end Financial Statement period. Work with staff statewide to complete work assignments. Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings and hearings via private or public transportation.
