Under the administrative direction of the Division Chief (CEA B), the incumbent directs two Sections, comprised of the Managed Care Procurement Section (MCPS) and the Contract Policy & Administration Section (CPAS). The SSM III has primary responsibility for overseeing and directing: contract development; policy interpretation and application; management activities for contracted Medi-Cal managed care health plans (MCPs); project management; and contract administration and procurement functions for Managed Care Plan and non-managed care plan contracts.
The SSM III will serve in this highly visible, high-level role. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the MCPS and CPAS. The MCPS is comprised of one (1) Staff Services Manager II, one (1) Staff Services Manager I, one (1) Staff Services Manager Specialist, two (2) Health Program Specialist Is (HPS I), and four (4) Associate Governmental Program Analysts (AGPA). The CPAS is comprised of one (1) SSM II, one (1) Health Program Specialist II (HPS II), two (2) Staff Services Manager I (SSM I), two (2) Staff Services Manager I Specialist (SSM I), two (2) HSP Is, and six (6) AGPAs.

Working Conditions
Telework Option:
This position may be eligible for telework up to three days per week and is required to report in-person and site-based a minimum of two days per week. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change consistent with DHCS' Telework Program and Government Code sections 14200 - 14203. Telework is available to California residents, and proof of residency may be required.
Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee's designated office and residence subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the reporting location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
