Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Assistant Executive Director is responsible for coordinating with all external departments to ensure OCPSC objectives are met, and activities are compliant with relevant legislation and policies. The incumbent facilitates correspondence with internal and external publics to ensure OCPSC has effective management strategies in place to advance OCPSC goals and priorities, including the statewide communication strategy for COVID-19 outreach and extreme heat and drought education through the Office.
The OCPSC Assistant Executive Director oversees all internal activities through the development and implementation of an adaptive management system and OCPSC relationships with external organizations in support of OCPSC projects. This position requires that the incumbent has a background in administrative management, civic engagement, and stakeholder relations to provide the Office with necessary guidance and strategy analysis. This position's primary focus is to serve as management of all administrative and strategic activities of the Office in support of the Executive Director. The Assistant Executive Director also serves as the primary liaison with the Governor's Office on all workstream updates and deliverables to ensure executive leadership have an understanding of progress made on ongoing strategies.
The Assistant Executive Director manages the four Deputy Directors, the OCPSC Administrative team and the Executive team Special Assistant.
NOTE: Training & Development (T&D) assignments will not be considered for this recruitment.

Working Conditions
Persons appointed to this position must be reasonably expected to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. This position may be eligible to participate in OPR's hybrid telework schedule. Participation in Telework is subject to OPR's guidelines. Occasional/overnight travel up to 20% may be required.
All OPR employees must reside in California upon appointment.
