Responsibilities

  • Maintain a strong program of research and scholarly activity in the realm of school counseling and pursue external grant funding opportunities.
  • Develop and teach graduate-level courses in online, face-to-face, and blended learning environments.
  • Mentor graduate students, serve on graduate student committees, and supervise graduate student research.
  • Play an integral role in collaborating with colleagues, students, and alumni to maintain a strong program community and identity.
  • Provide service to the program, department, college, and profession.
  • Support and participate in the CACREP accreditation processes in the Counselor Education Program.
  • Supervise students in clinical practicum settings is expected, as is maintaining and developing relationships with area schools.

Qualifications

Candidates for this position must hold a doctoral degree in Counselor Education (preferably from a CACREP-accredited program) and meet CACREP core faculty eligibility requirements. The successful candidate will demonstrate an aptitude for and commitment to a program of research, and experience with seeking external funding for research activities. Candidates should show commitment to maintaining a counselor identity, experience teaching and mentoring graduate students, and a desire to be fundamentally involved in the Counselor Education Program. We seek a candidate who will contribute to strengthening program quality, increasing student recruitment, and assuring continued accreditation. The successful candidate will also present evidence of quality teaching of core school-counseling courses, and of engagement with school-counseling professional associations at state or national levels.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working as a school counselor.
  • Experience teaching in a graduate counselor-education program and teaching in online settings.
  • Experience working with a diverse student body, providing supervision to school-counseling students, and participating in CACREP accreditation processes.
  • Candidates with evidence of strong scholarship and evidence of extramural research grant funding in an area that is consistent with school counseling research are strongly preferred.
