Job Summary Purchasing Coordinator
Under general supervision of the Business Office Manager, serve as the primary departmental purchasing resource for Molecular & Cellular Biology in the College of Biological Sciences. This position provides purchasing support to faculty, staff, and students. Initiate purchase requests including gathering competitive costs & making vendor suggestions and researching vendors & determining if they meet department/university purchasing requirements. Research new or unusual services or supplies as needed. Serve as a primary point of contact to faculty, staff, students, vendors & other university departments to resolve issues & discrepancies. Manage shipment & receiving, as well as travel & entertainment processing for the department.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

- Experience performing purchasing-related tasks to include but not limited to placing orders, researching product specifications, obtaining and providing cost comparison information, interpreting terms and conditions of contracts, and determining total costs including tax and shipping.
- Experience processing complex purchasing and accounts payable transactions.
- Experience coordinating projects and services with central units, outside vendors and internal customers to conduct effective planning, training, negotiations, problem-solving, and dispute resolution.
- Experience providing customer service and exercising diplomacy in dealing with others and resolving potential problems and discrepancies.
- Skill to anticipate and analyze problems; locate and utilize resources; devise and implement change/solutions; and recognize and resolve invoice discrepancies.
- Experience interpreting policies and procedures for facilities management, campus services and purchasing.
- Experience working with online financial reporting systems with proficiency and strong computer skills to produce correspondence, forms, reports, etc. on University systems.
