Job Summary

Under the general direction of the supervisor, assist in all aspects of a NCAA Division I men's & women's track & field program including student recruitment, scheduling, team travel, scouting opponents, practice planning, assisting with the administration of summer camps and clinics, and administration of the men's & women's track & field program in full compliance with NCAA and university rules and regulations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license, certification and/or educational degree if required of the position.

  • Collegiate coaching and experience in the sport of track & field.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of the rules and strategies of track & field. This includes, but is not limited to, teaching techniques, coaching strategies and safety measures that are necessary for the UC Davis student-athlete to compete at the collegiate level. Skills to interact effectively and establish cooperative working relationships with UC Davis student-athletes, coaching colleagues, department staff and other persons from diverse backgrounds including parents, fans, boosters, members of the media and officials associated with the sport.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to learn the complex policies and procedures regarding academic eligibility of UC Davis student-athletes. These include UC Davis, Big West Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association policies and procedures.

Department Overview

Assist the supervisor in all aspects of an NCAA Division I men's & women's track & field program including student recruitment, scheduling, team travel, scouting opponents, practice planning, assisting with the administration of summer camps, and administration of the men's & women's track & field program in full compliance with NCAA and university rules and regulations. The University of California, Davis sponsors 25 sports for men and women and is a member of NCAA Division I. A majority of intercollegiate sports compete in the Big West Conference.

Complete and pass the National Collegiate Athletic Association Recruiting Examination per NCAA bylaw 12.1, 2.2.1 and be CPR & First Aid certified annually.
