Job Description:

Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia's capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance. Provide supervision and maintenance services at the Downtown Campus of J. Sargeant Reynolds community college. Provide support college-wide as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Considerable knowledge of the building trades and the use of associated tools, equipment and materials.
  • Journeyman knowledge of electrical systems and plumbing installation and repair.
  • Experience in carpentry.
  • Considerable skill in the use of hand and power tools, gauges and equipment used in electrical, carpentry, plumbing/steam fitting and HVAC work.
  • Journeyman level expertise in HVAC installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and of employed tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, test, diagnose, and repair a wide variety of electrical, structural, mechanical, plumbing and HVAC equipment; read and interpret blueprints/schematics, diagrams, drawings, specification and operating manuals; instruct and inspect the work of others, and communicate with various levels of users.
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions and prioritize work.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and operate a personal computer and/or computerized maintenance systems.
  • Ability to lift and/or move heavy objects. Ability to work flexible hours depending on assignment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Require high school or G.E.D. diploma and training in HVAC, Electrical, or Plumbing trade school. Additional coursework in trades other than primary trade is recommended.
  • Considerable experience in the areas of HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing installation, repair and maintenance.
  • Valid Virginia driver's license required.
  • Require journeyman level card in HVAC, Electrical, or Plumbing.
  • Preferred EPA approved universal refrigerant license (CFC).
