Job Summary/Overview

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers in a one plant multi-shift operation engaged in maintaining and repairing physical structures of buildings, machines, equipment and maintaining grounds by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Directs workers engaged in maintenance activities, assuring the effective and efficient completion of assigned tasks. Establishes and adjusts work plans to support production and meet deadlines.
  • As assigned by Manufacturing Engineering Manager, seeks and obtains bids from contractors for maintenance and facilities work other than that performed by CMCO personnel. Applies to projects, equipment repairs and routine maintenance services. Monitors performance of such services and provides any necessary feedback to the contractors.
  • Requisitions tools, equipment, repair parts and supplies.
  • Works closely with staff safety coordinator to assure the work performed by both internal maintenance department members and outside contractors is performed safely and properly in compliance with governing agencies. Addresses and resolves safety issues in the plant.
  • Inspects completed work for conformance to blue prints, specifications, and standards. Works closely with the plant safety coordinator, facility insurer and various other agencies to understand and comply with regulatory requirements. .
  • Administers and maintains a preventive maintenance (PM) program on production machinery as well as various facility systems such as HVAC. To include maintenance and operator PM, use and oversight of computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), and overall management of spare parts.
  • Utilize CMMS for submission, execution, management, and record keeping of work order activity.
  • Communicates and enforces company policies to workers and enforces safety, environmental, and electrical regulations.
  • Supports production by improving working conditions and equipment, analyzing and resolving work problems, and conferring with supervisors to meet the needs of their departments.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency and longevity.
  • Directly supervises maintenance employees; Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems


Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.
  • Skills in machine shop, mechanical drawing and electrical/electronic training a plus.


Required Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D
  • 5 years of Maintenance Supervisory Experience in a manufacturing
  • Experience overseeing technicians
  • Ability to train and skill up technicians in a timely manner
  • Clear and concise communication with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to create and administer employment actions such as reviews, disciplinary actions, etc.
  • Ability to lift/lower/push/pull up to 40 lbs safely


Preferred:
  • Associates Degree from a two-year college or technical school
  • Experience working in a union environment
  • Experience with SolidWorks and/or AutoCad in mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
  • PLC experience
