Why does the job exist?

The Business Operations Specialist - Advanced will:
  • Handle dally business financial operations within the New Mexico Human Service Department's (HSD) Office of Inspector General (OIG), Central Office and Albuquerque Office.


How does it get done?

The Business Operations Specialist - Advanced is responsible for;
  • Preparing and processing requisitions for goods and services, invoicing for payment, and processing in-state and out of-state travel reimbursements for OIG employees both in Santa Fe and Albuquerque;
  • Filling the role of OIG Records Liaison for purposes of archiving, retaining and destruction of confidential documents;
  • Assisting with answering the fraud hot-line and main line for the OIG in Santa Fe and entering all referral complaints in the Automated System Program and Eligibility Network (ASPEN) database;
  • Updating the budget spreadsheet for the OIG and informing upper management aware of any budget issues and;
  • Calculating overlap months in the Public Assistance Report Information System (PARIS) worksheet and assisting with the PARIS project on a quarterly basis.

  • Staff in the Administrative Services Division (ASD).


Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has:
  • Financial experience and SHARE experience;
  • Microsoft Excel experience and familiarity with the financial process for State Government;
  • The ability to work independently and have confidence in the work they produce.


Minimum Qualification

Associates Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or Accounting and two (2) years of directly related job experience in the areas of office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management and/or contract management. Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.

Employment is subject to a pre-employment criminal history background investigation and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
