Why does the job exist?
This position will ensure the integrity of the New Mexico Commercial Driver License (CDL) skills testing program by administering audits on third party examiners and Organizations.
How does it get done?
This position will be responsible for:
* Auditing third- party testing organizations by conducting onsite inspections of the third-party testers, examiners, and organizational records.
* Scheduling 40-hour CDL Examiner classes, and 16-hour Re-Certification classes to allow for new examiners and for continuous education of the current examiners.
* Evaluating testing sites and organizations, and records to ensure the testing premises and equipment meet requirements and regulations working with the testing organizations to meet FMCSA
regulations and AAMVA testing requirements.
* Verifying and approving test routes.
* Interacting daily with third party testers, and the public referencing all facets of the commercial driver's examination process and issuance processes.
* Answering inquiries via phone, in person and through written correspondence regarding license issuance procedures, the Commercial Driver License program, New Mexico licensing regulations,
etc.
* Counseling applicants concerning examination study or reason for examination failure.

This position serves Commercial Driver's License (CDL) holders, people interested in a commercial license, employers of CDL holders, Motor Vehicle Division field offices, and other government agencies Constituents nationwide.
Ideal Candidate
The Ideal Candidate will have experience in:
* General office support
* Clerical office support
* Customer service
* Commercial Vehicle knowledge
* Able to work independently
Minimum Qualification
High School diploma or Equivalency and two (2) years of experience in office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management and/or contract management. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

• If Minimum Qualification requires a specific number of "semester hours" in a field (e.g. 6 semester hours in Accounting), applicants MUST have those semester hours in order to meet the minimum qualifications. No substitutions apply for semester hours.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment. Must be current with all tax reporting/payment. Employment is subject to post offer pre-employment criminal background check to include fingerprint checks and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting. Some standing, bending and reaching may be required. Must be able to lift 25 lbs. Continuous indoor, outdoor work. Frequent working irregular or extended work hours. Travel is required, overnight, weekend and holiday may be included.
