Posting Details

The Boards and Commissions Division oversees administration of 28 professional and occupational licensing boards and commissions and approximately 100,000 individual licenses ranging from dentists and social workers to real estate brokers and cosmetologists. This position is located within the Division's Compliance Team, based out of the Department's Santa Fe office.

Each board and commission has its own set of rules and its own licensing requirements. The Governor of New Mexico appoints members to boards and commissions who work closely with the Superintendent of the New Mexico Regulation & Licensing Department to protect consumer rights while promoting good business practices, safety and economic growth.

Why does the job exist?

This position will serve as a senior staff member, within the Compliance Team providing administrative support. The individual who fills this position will draft Settlement Agreements, write comprehensive reports in a concise manner for review by a compliance committee; the individual will be required to manage and meet multiple and conflicting deadlines; will schedule complaint committee meetings and track complaints until final order are issued and all conditions are met; and oversee the administrative functions and activities for compliance of the licensing board to achieve the board's legislative mandate to protect the health, safety and welfare of the public .

How does it get done?

Administer duties relating to compliance of the board rules, regulations and practice act; provide efficient licensing, compliance and regulatory services to protect the public by ensuring that licensed professionals are qualified to practice; direct on-going evaluation of compliance activities and report results to supervisor; administer duties relating to compliance of the board rules, regulations and practice act' manager, meet multiple and conflicting deadlines; and write comprehensive reports in a manner that makes it easy for the reader to understand and be fully informed. Travel will be required throughout the state.

Our customers are licensed individuals, establishment owners or applicants in any of the 31 professional we license. The customer include professionals, applicants, insurance and credentialing companies and member of the public who are dependent on the services the licensed individuals provide.

Ideal Candidate

* Experience working with confidential information,
* Identify issues and problem solve;
* Prior customer service experience, the ability to disseminate accurate information to others, and interest in assisting diverse groups;
* Comfortable with technology, including the complete Microsoft suite, and experience or interest in data entry and other forms of technology; and
* Experience in New Mexico state government, regulatory work, law enforcement, investigations or educational background or interest in compliance or a related field.

Minimum Qualification

Associates Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or Accounting and two (2) years of directly related job experience in the areas of office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management and/or contract management. Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must pass employment background check.

Working Conditions

Office setting, exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with
extended periods of sitting. Must be able to lift 25 lbs; must be able to multi-task and meet legal deadlines; must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and may require occasional in-state and out-of-state travel.
