Job Summary:

The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Gastroenterology, has an opening for a full-time Research Services Entry Professional to work at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team of researchers working in the lab of Dr. Julia Dunn.

Studies in the Dunn laboratory focus on the underlying biology of innate immune cells called eosinophils to better understand their role in allergic diseases including food allergy. We have projects ranging from basic science to translational and clinical research that involve primary human tissues and mouse models of disease. The successful candidate will have two primary functions: 1) the execution of bench research projects using in vitro, in vivo and ex vivo models, and 2) laboratory management including inventory, ordering, equipment maintenance, maintaining sample and reagent databases, and ensuring compliance with safety policies and protocols. The successful candidate will work closely with and report directly to Dr. Dunn, who will provide supervision to the extent and direction best suited to the candidate's experience and professional goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with and support Principal Investigator (PI), Dr. Dunn, as well as members of the Dunn Lab.
  • Perform experiments, record results, evaluate results, and present data.
  • Manage lab inventory and ordering. Prepare lab for daily operations, including stocking materials, equipment, safety, and cleanliness.
  • Assist in the development, review, and implementation of lab management policies, practices and programs to meet organizational needs.

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of and demonstrated competence in some or all of the following laboratory techniques is desirable:
    • previous experience involving the use of animals and in vivo disease models
    • flow cytometry acquisition and analysis
    • immunohistochemistry
    • fluorescence microscopy
    • molecular biology (RNA, protein extraction, RT-PCR)
  • Background in immunology or cellular and molecular biology would be beneficial.
  • Background in (or willingness to be trained in) phlebotomy is desirable.
  • Good computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Knowledge of Prism also desirable.
  • Ability to commit to a minimum of two years in the position.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established a

$45,000- $57,240.
