Our Trust & Safety team's commitment is to keep our online community safe. We have invested heavily in human and machine-based moderation to remove harmful content quickly and often before it reaches our general community.
As a Data Scientist in TikTok's Trust and Safety team, you will be instrumental in ensuring that TikTok remains a safe, trustworthy, and risk-free environment. By implementing your domain knowledge, you will help diagnose, triage, and treat large-scale safety issues. You will scope out projects, use ground-truth data to inform strategies, and use data and insights to form best-in-class heuristics to proactively detect and disarm safety incidents. You will partner with a variety of stakeholders across the product, operations, policy, and engineering teams - both locally and globally.

It is possible that this role will be exposed to harmful content as part of the core role/as part of project/ in response to escalation requests/by chance. Some content viewed may violate our community guidelines and can also include (but is not limited to) bullying; hate speech; child safety; depictions of harm to self and others, and harm to animals.

Responsibilities:
- Drive business development both short-term and long-term through in-depth business analysis, industry studies and the study of market trends;
- Refine and upgrade the content safety system for globalised products, build data solutions to aid the management of a large-scaled operation team;
- Utilize a comprehensive understanding of content safety;
- Develop strategies through various operational data analysis, empower scenarios such as resource allocation, cost management, personnel management, output efficiency management, and output quality management;
- Abstract reusable analytical methodologies and tools;
- Collaborate closely with the global Trust and Safety team;
- Proactively provide insights and recommendations, drive the implementation of data analysis value, and oversee the macro direction of the business.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or above, preferably in mathematics or statistics-related majors, with a solid foundation in statistical and data mining theories;
- Minimum of 1 year data analysis experience, with a deep understanding of risks in globalised products;
- Proficient in data analysis and statistical analysis tools such as SQL, Python, R, Excel, and Tableau;
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional and global teams, communicating across effectively and efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to grasp company product-related industry technology development trends, and possess strong macro analysis and decision-making capabilities;
- Experience in platform content safety and large-scale outsourcing team data operations and coordination.
- Experience in coaching team members.
