Job Summary:

Ex vivo organ perfusion is an emerging research frontier. The CU Department of Surgery and Division of Urology are excited for Dr. Heiko Yang to establish the inaugural ex vivo kidney perfusion lab in Colorado. This will be a tremendous opportunity for applicants interested in gaining an immersive experience in basic and translational biomedical research. This will also be an opportunity to learn how to build a research program from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in assembling ex vivo perfusion circuit
  • Prepare porcine and human kidneys for ex vivo
  • Perform animal surgery
  • Conduct molecular biology, histology, and genomics studies
  • Lab maintenance and organization


Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
    • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.


Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
  • Prior experience or background within an experimental or wet lab


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic to Advanced knowledge of laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology medical terminology
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $45,000 - $57,240.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
