Environmental Specialist 3

What we do:

At the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, our primary goal is to protect the environment and public health. We do this by ensuring compliance with federal and state environmental laws.

What we need YOU to do:

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to join our team as an environmental specialist with the Division of Drinking and Ground Waters (DDAGW) at our Northeast District Office in Twinsburg.

You'll help ensure Ohioans have safe drinking water. Cool, right?

You'll serve as lead ground water specialist for DDAGW by providing technical support,

training, guidance, and leadership to ground water program staff. In particular, you'll help develop policies, procedures, reports, and technical documents to ensure state's Source Water Assessment and Protection (SWAP) and 106 programs are meeting state and federal commitments.

As subject matter expert you'll evaluate and assess potential sources of ground water contamination at land application sites and investigate areas of existing contamination by reviewing local hydrogeological data, collecting ground water samples and interpreting analytical results. You'll evaluate hydrogeologic information to determine sites for new public drinking water wells.

You'll promote source water protection strategies and assist with developing and implementing protective strategies to minimize ground and surface water impacts from various types of land uses and contaminant sources. You'll provide technical assistance to local officials, public water system operators, consultants, and the public on Ohio's SWAP, pollution prevention activities, and hydrologic issues.

Let's drop a pin on the basic tasks.

• Serve as lead ground water specialist and support program staff.

• Investigate and research areas of ground water contamination impacting private and
