The Office of the Secretary of State's finance department serves a critical role through its comprehensive management and oversight of the Office's fiscal operations. Under the strategic leadership of the Chief Financial Officer, the team of five is charged with the processing of all accounts payable and receivable, management of the Office's budget, and the effective allocation of funds to various programs and initiatives. Furthermore, it supervises the entire life-cycle of contracts and the execution of all procurements. Beyond these fundamental responsibilities, the finance team processes travel reimbursements, oversees the agency's annual audit, and ensures compliance with financial regulations in collaboration with the Department of Finance and Administration. The finance department enables the Office to advance all its initiatives effectively and successfully in support of the Secretary of State's mission.

This position is critical for the processing of accounts receivable/payable transactions for Secretary's office.
How does it get done?
The job gets done by processing accounts receivable/payable transactions in SHARE, processing and reconciling daily cash/check deposits, making daily cash deposits to bank, processing purchasing-card transactions, communicating with vendors, and providing general ad-hoc financial team support i.e.: assisting with overflow.
Who are the customers?
Customers include internal stakeholders, vendors and contractors.
Ideal Candidate
The Ideal Candidate will possess the following abilities:
1. Good accounting skills
2. Have the ability to comprehend reports
3. Good communications skills
4. Basic writing skills
5. Experience with Share Financials
6. Understanding of MAPS
7. Moderate Excel experience
Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or Equivalency and two (2) years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting and/or finance. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Education Experience 1 High School Diploma or Equivalent AND 2 years of experience 2 Associate's degree or higher (Bachelor's, Master's) AND 0 years of experience
• Education and years of experience must be related to the purpose of the position.
• If Minimum Qualification requires a specific number of "semester hours" in a field (e.g. 6 semester hours in Accounting), applicants MUST have those semester hours in order to meet the minimum qualifications. No substitutions apply for semester hours.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required and ability to make daily check/cash deposits.
