This position is located in the Division of Executive Budget and Finance (DEBF), State Controller's Office and is headquartered at the DOA Office Building at 101 E. Wilson Street, Madison, WI 53703. This position will have telework capability which can be discussed in more detail in the interview process.

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Financial Program Supervisor, this position is primarily responsible for entry and maintenance of the State's supplier and customer data files. The supplier and customer database forms the basis for all AP and AR functions of the entire State of Wisconsin. The position will work with State Agencies, State Bureau of Procurement, Municipalities, and Suppliers to ensure that information is accurately established and maintained within the PeopleSoft (STAR) system. In addition, this position will respond to a variety of correspondence received from the State's suppliers and customers. This includes reviewing payment histories, determining discrepancies in supplier files and initiating and facilitating corrections to financial information. To do this, the position performs a combination of routine tasks, such data entry into financial systems / databases, along with more complex analysis and interpretation of incoming data. This position also answers routine customer service questions on accounts, supplier records and payment discrepancies.

Salary Information

This position is in schedule-range (02-11) with an hourly rate of $21.66 an hour.

Job Details

Due to the nature of the position, DOA will conduct background checks on applicants prior to selection. DOA does not sponsor work visas. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States, and to complete the required employment eligibility form.

Certain positions within this Department may allow remote/work from home flexibility for a portion of their work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and the work unit. This topic and any remote work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process.

This position is Limited Term Employment (LTE) and is limited to 1,039 hours in 26 consecutive pay periods (1 year).

Wisconsin residency is required for Limited Term Employment positions.

Limited Term Employment (LTE) positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to permanent civil service classified positions and do not lead to permanent status.

Qualifications

Qualified applicants will have education training or experience in any of the following:
  • Accounting practices, principles, and techniques
  • Management information systems and general information technology processing methods
  • Working with accounting software (e.g. STAR/PeopleSoft, or similar)
