Job Description
SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assign staff to deliver care using a primary nursing approach based on the acuity level of patients.
2. Ensures the completeness of admission assessments of patients admitted during his/her tour.
3. Administer direct nursing care to patients to assess patient care requirements.
4. Assist in coordinating medical, nursing, and other health care team activities on patients.
5. Prepares staffing schedule for the unit on his/her assigned tour under the guidance of the ADN.
6. Evaluate care given on his/her tour and conduct meetings and conferences with staff to discuss care given and implementation of necessary changes.
Leadership/Management
1. Assist with providing direction and guidance to staff on assigned tours.
2. Assist with coordinating unit routines and keep ADN informed of patient care issues.
3. Acts as a role model and ensures staff compliance with the Department of Nursing and critical care policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
1. A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State; and
2. Holds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA); and
3. One (1) year of experience as a registered nurse.
