This is an essential position. Responsible for providing clerical support to the Resource Unit (Child Care, Program Development Services, Employment Services, and Family Partnerships/Family finding facilitation) including typing, filing, mail distribution, data entry, etc. Also provides back up to the switchboard, and HSA staff. Provides emergency shelter duty in times of emergencies or natural disasters.
This essential position requires skills in typing no less than 35 wpm, ability to follow written and oral instructions, ability to make decisions within established precedents, ability to work with coworkers and public, ability to plan and organize work, knowledge of clerical office procedures, knowledge of professional style writing, knowledge of spelling, grammar, and punctuation, ability to organize materials, and ability to compile and prepare reports. Employees must have a positive attitude and helpful demeanor and exhibit a professional working relationship with staff, customers, and community. Must have good sound judgement, emotional maturity, and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma supplemented with related clerical or administrative experience in social services or related field OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Special Requirements: Must possess or be able to obtain a driver's license upon hire. Driving record must meet agency standard. May be required to report for shelter duty during community disasters and/or emergencies. Applicants may be subject to a Criminal History Background search, Central Registry search, DMV/driving record check, and /or pre-employment drug screen. The investigation may include fingerprint checks (State Police, FBI), local agency checks, employment verification and references, verification of education (relevant to employment), credit checks (relevant to employment) and other checks requested by the hiring authority. This position is covered under Code of Virgina 63.2-160.1 or 63.2-1720 requiring the finalist candidate to submit to fingerprinting and provide personal descriptive information for a criminal history record check through the Central Criminal Records Exchange and a search of the Central Registry.
