About the Team
Service Engineering, part of Vehicle Software Engineering, is responsible for real-time diagnostic support for the service network (the field), development and improvement of diagnostic tools and procedures, and feedback of top field issues to our development teams to improve current and future products. Tesla is seeking an intern that is passionate about the product, a strong critical thinker, and capable of understanding technical system-level architecture and issues.



Responsibilities
  • Develop automated tools to streamline vehicle thermal management and HVAC diagnostics and repairs
  • Drive product improvements by collaborating with the software, design and quality teams
  • Perform fault injection and test new changes on engineering vehicles
  • Conduct large-scale data analyses to identify field concerns
  • Support escalations from field technical teams
  • Assist with technical documentation in our diagnostic knowledge base


Requirements
  • Currently pursuing a degree in a relevant Engineering program such as Mechanical, Aerospace, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a graduation date between 2025 - 2026
  • Excellent first principles understanding of heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics
  • Proficiency in Python or similar scripting language for data processing and automation
  • Basic proficiency with embedded firmware development in C/C++ or similar
  • Proven technical experience through extracurricular activities, academic projects, passion projects, or equivalent experiences
  • Eagerness to collaborate cross-functionally with other engineering teams, while being able to work independently

    • Expected Compensation

      $26.44 - $37.02, depending on level + benefits

      Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
