SUMMARY

AutoZone is looking for a technology leader for our Digital Portfolio. We are on a journey to transform our digital experience - as Manager specializing in software development on the Digital Order Management Engineering team, you will be responsible for leading multiple engineers in developing Multi-national Digital Order Management applications and collaborating with other teams in building a comprehensive Omni-Channel experience for our customers. A successful candidate will have a background in building and operating large scale Digital Order Management Systems and/or Dropship solutions and hands-on approach to leading software development, great project management and communication skills and an eagerness to grow with a team as they take on increasing responsibility.

What We are Looking for:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field required; Master's Degree preferred
  • Deep experience developing and managing Digital Commerce Applications and Order Managements systems
  • Strong background in hands-on Software development using Java/C++, Relational Databases, Messaging Platforms and Source Code Management systems
  • Demonstrated experience in driving DevOps and SRE practices to ensure high performing and highly available commerce websites
  • Most recent experience in successfully building and managing large globally distributed engineering teams, hiring and developing talent.
  • Cloud integration experience, GCP preferred
  • We will inquire heavily about your large/complex/cross-functional project experience. Including deliverables and outcomes regarding budget and deadlines.
  • Experience in developing software using Agile processes and the Scrum framework
  • Excellent communication, leadership and technical skills

Influence and Leadership Responsibility:
  • This role will directly supervise many engineers with varying levels of experience ranging from associate to senior level contributors. Some employees will be remote and even international, plus there will routinely be a diverse group of contingent workers helping.
  • As an expert in your field, we will require you to participate as a member of the IT management team in functional activities such as planning, budgeting, special projects, and other initiatives that span the organization.
  • Work collaboratively with Business Partners and Shared Services teams and influence them to work towards the Strategic business objectives

What Your Day Will Look Like (Other Duties Responsibilities May be Assigned):
  • The ability to communicate vision and mission to engineers in a way that inspires, fosters inclusion and instills ownership and empowerment
  • Be a role model for collaborative, self-empowered, and distributed work culture
  • Give direct guidance to teams on coding, development process, and product development
  • Influence technical direction with a deep understanding of our business and empathy for our AutoZoners
  • Lead effectively through the entire Software Development Lifecycle -
    • Ensuring designs and architecture are resilient, scalable, cloud native, and performant making sure external dependencies are identified and communicated across the organization.
    • Estimating and forecasting budget needs, ongoing budget and resource management.
    • Set and maintain high engineering standards for coding, CI/CD, and release/change management
    • Highly engaged in all Agile ceremonies and practices including stand-ups, backlog reviews and demos
    • Responsible to ensure all releases are thoroughly peer reviewed and tested
    • Ensuring proper change control practices are followed
  • Own the growth and development of contributors working under your guidance
  • Partner with product and program management teams to successfully deliver complex products

  • Your role will be highly influential by directing the design and development of modifications to current systems and/or creation of new systems to meet business partner needs in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • In addition to implementation, you will also be responsible for support of our existing technologies, with a proactive troubleshooting mindset and a sense of urgency responding to incidents
  • Foster relationships with business managers and cross-functional delivery team members
