The Lead Person will assist the supervisor in coordinating activities of Commercial Department personnel. They will serve as a leader and flexible operative resource: providing training, monitoring safety, quality, and delivery; and adjusts work assignments.

Job Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Perform all duties as assigned in a safe and efficient manner with an emphasis on quality. Follow Company and departmental procedures, including regular attendance and punctuality. Follow all safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition. Report any unusual conditions or situations to Supervisor.
  • Assists supervisor and HR in the introduction and orientation of new employees to fellow co-workers. Provides training on general safety issues associated with the machinery, procedures and the facility including evacuation routes, shelter areas and other safety issues.
  • Assists supervisor in establishing training requirements and training methods for new employees relating to machine safety, operator machine maintenance, machine set-up, machine operation, quality requirements and production rates.
  • Conduct training sessions as established by supervisor and lead person for new and experienced operators relating to new subjects or review of existing ones. Training may be individual or in group settings.
  • Assist supervisor is assessing operator performance and adherence to Company safety rules and policies.
  • Complete necessary paperwork including approve to move, count verification and work orders for equipment repair and tooling needs.
  • Act as liaison between Aircraft Department and other departments.
  • Foster a positive and respectful environment and resolve conflicts amongst employees.
  • Monitor production outputs and coach troubleshooting activities. Conduct problem solving and continuously improve the department.
  • Must be willing and able to lead in the Timken Manufacturing Operating Systems (TMOS) and must complete the TMOS class as scheduled.
  • Perform all duties associated with the operation and set-up of Aircraft machinery.
  • Operate powered lift-truck as needed to perform job duties.

Minimum Requirments:
  • High School Diploma or GED (validation is required)
  • Ability to stand and walk 8 hours per day.
  • Thorough understanding of Timken Aurora Bearing Company product line in relation to product characteristics and nomenclature. Operation and set-up of various types of machinery within the department. Ability to use measuring equipment to determine process variability.
  • Able to handle multiple competing tasks and priorities, and perform quality work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Takes proactive approach in anticipating, identifying, and solving problems and makes necessary changes so problems do not occur in the future.
  • Experience with reading and understanding blueprints.
  • Experience with various measuring and gauging devices to determine process variability.
  • Experience with utilizing various types of CNC and grinding equipment.
