Requirements / Qualifications
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
Plan, organize and coordinate Food Service purchases, delivery systems, inventory, warehousing, equipment, vending, and other operational activities to ensure an efficient and effective operation; ensure compliance with mandated health, safety and nutrition standards; train, supervise and evaluate assigned staff; provide highly responsible assistance to the Director of Food Service.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE OF: Nutrition principles and large quantity food preparation Rules and principles of marketing child nutrition programs USDA commodity program and government procurement system Food, supply, and equipment specification and terminology Applicable laws, rules and regulations related to assigned activities Federally-mandated HACCP program Job-related software programs, spreadsheets, and word processing Principles and practices of supervision and training Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy ABILITY TO: Plan and coordinate district-wide food service activities and ensure high quality customer service, wholesome food production, and efficient workflow Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals Interpret and apply federal, state and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations Train, supervise and evaluate the work of others Prepare and deliver oral presentations Understand budget management EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: Bachelor's degree in Nutrition/Dietetics, Food Service Management, or Business; and two years increasingly responsible experience as a supervisor in food service or institutional food management involving planning and preparation of food in large quantities.
