The Program Coordinator works as part of a team with the Director, Assistant Director, graduate student interns, and undergraduate student staff to achieve the mission of the Women's Center through the development and implementation of a wide range of programs and services to meet the diverse needs of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members. As a representative of the Women's Center, the Program Coordinator provides vital information and referrals about programs, resources, and support to all members of the University community as well as to communities within the Twin Cities, the state of Minnesota, and beyond.

This is a 100%, 12-months continuing Civil Service position (job code 8208A1, Admin Associate 1).

Duties and Responsibilities:

Program/Event Support and Logistics Coordination (25%):
  • Coordinate Women's Center programming including: community-based programming; Feminist Friday workshop and panel series; Our Voices dialogue group for Indigenous women and women of color students; UMN Indigenous Women & Women of Color (UIWWOC) employee affinity group.
  • Facilitate and assist with overall planning, logistics, and presentation of Women's Center services, initiatives, and programs.
  • Assist in the management of Women's Center awards, grants, and scholarship processes.

Gender Equity Education and Assessment (20%):
  • Facilitate (in conjunction with other Women's Center staff) educational training focused on a range of intersectional gender equity topics and concerns.
  • Serve as a member of the OED Education Team to deliver additional training (according to capacity) in the Equity Certificate Hosted Online (ECHO) program.
  • Assist in implementing the Women's Center program assessment and evaluation strategy to track participant engagement and learning outcomes of all programs, services, and initiatives of the Women's Center.

Administrative and Financial Oversight (20%):
  • Assist the Director in updating and managing the Women's Center budget, with primary responsibility for purchasing and reconciliation.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for the Women's Center and provide information/referrals to relevant departments and resources.
  • Assume primary responsibility for administrative and clerical functions for the office including management of Women's Center space and equipment.

Student Supervision (20%):
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate 1-2 undergraduate student employees.
  • Coach students in the Culture Corps Gender Equity initiative including mentorship regarding program development and execution.

Communication and Outreach (10%):
  • Work in collaboration with the Director to coordinate and implement the Women's Center marketing and communications strategy including: regularly updating the Women's Center website; checking and responding to email directed to the Women's Center account; assisting in creating and posting social media content; and assisting in developing and publishing an e-newsletter.
  • Coordinate Women's Center outreach efforts.

Other (5%):
  • Represent the mission, vision, and social justice values of the Women's Center, the Office for Equity and Diversity, and the University of Minnesota.
  • Represent the Women's Center on at least one of the following University committees: Lactation Advocacy Committee; Trans Advisory & Action Team; Women's Health Equity, Empowerment & Leadership (through Center for Global Health & Social Responsibility),
  • Other duties as assigned.

WORK DAYS: Monday to Friday

WORK MODE: This position will primarily perform work on campus in person with the option to work hybrid.

PAY RANGE: $52,000-$57,000

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree or combination of related education and work experience to equal four years to include at least one year of programming/administrative experience in a non-profit or academic setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in advocating and working towards gender equity.
  • Demonstrated experience in, and ongoing commitment to, working effectively with and across diverse communities: including people of color, underrepresented groups and new immigrant populations; American Indians; people with both apparent and non-apparent disabilities; women; people of various gender and sexual identities and expressions; and first-generation students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Event planning and execution experience (in person and online).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with Google Suite, Zoom, Mailchimp, and/or Canva.
  • Experience delivering educational sessions focused on intersectional gender equity content.
  • Experience working within college or university settings.
  • Experience supervising student staff or volunteers.
